Rugby league stars jailed

14 April 2012

Three rugby league players who were caught on CCTV brawling outside a Leeds nightclub were jailed today.

Leeds Rhinos forwards Chev Walker, 20, and Ryan Bailey, 19, were both sent to a young offenders' institution. Great Britain star Walker was given 18 months and Bailey handed a nine-month sentence for their parts in the street fight in July last year.

Rochdale Hornets player Paul Owen, 24, was jailed for 15 months and another Leeds player, Wayne Barker, 19, was ordered to do 150 hours of community service.

Meanwhile, Wigan Warriors coach Stuart Raper has been sacked and replaced by assistant Mike Gregory for the remainder of the season.
