London Broncos could not buy a win in the opening weeks of the season but Tony Rea hopes his side prove tomorrow that they have turned the corner.
The Broncos face Hull KR at the Twickenham Stoop, having broken their duck with a 38‑4 victory over the Salford City Reds last week.
Kieran Dixon (above), who yesterday extended his contract, claimed a brace of tries at the Salford City Stadium to extend his run to five tries in as many games.
“Kieran is a wonderful talent,” said coach Rea. “His tries were good tries, they were team tries, but they were very well finished.
“We’d like to build up a bit of momentum and get another win. There’s no reason not to believe the results will keep coming. You’ve got to see yourself in that mode of winning mentality. You need to live in that mode and walk and talk and operate in that mode.”
Four straight defeats left the Broncos rooted to the bottom of the Super League table but they have taken heart from the victory that saw them leapfrog the Reds. “Obviously there’s been a bit of a boost in training,” said Rea. “We’ve kept our minds up and got in a positive mood.
“The pressure sharpened us. It was keeping us tight and made sure we were binding over the cracks. We had to pull tighter and tighter to get the win.”
Hull KR subjected Warrington Wolves to their first defeat of the season on Sunday and Rea does not expect an easy afternoon.
“KR had a healthy game,” he said. “They are a team playing well.”
