Barritt blow could see Gavin Henson stick at centre

Injured: Brad Barritt
10 April 2012

Saracens could have new plans for Gavin Henson after centre Brad Barritt was ruled out for six weeks having broken a finger in the shock 23-9 home loss to Exeter.

The Wales international was signed on a short-term contract last week as cover at No10 following Derick Hougaard's season-ending Achilles injury.

Henson, who will join once he is out of Strictly Come Dancing, was expected to take some of the pressure off Alex Goode but with Barritt now out, he could also feature in his normal midfield role. Barritt had been called into the England squad as cover for the injured Riki Flutey but is now out of all four autumn tests at Twickenham.

Meanwhile, Henson's decision to sign for Saracens has ruled him out of the Barbarians clash with world champions South Africa in the MasterCard Trophy Match at Twickenham on 4 December.

However, the Baa-baas have responded to his loss by including Bledisloe Cup hero James O'Connor and All Blacks Joe Rokocoko and Ma'a Nonu.
