Smith gets an ear bashing

Robert Smith, who will be one of Britain's four-strong team at the Rome International Horse Show starting next Thursday, took a nasty blow when jumping his grey, Lucky Sky, at Pontedera in Italy this weekend.

Smith needed 17 stitches in his ear and was forced to miss the show's top prize, the Grand Prix.
