Tomorrow, with 50 days until the start of the Paralympic Games, the British Paralympic Association will announce the full athletics team.

Those already selected include Richard Whitehead, who holds the world record for the marathon, half marathon and 200m run by a double amputee. He claims his secret is that he wears the same pair of lucky underpants in every race.

Parts of Greenwich Park will close this week to get it ready for the equestrian events. The jumping, dressage, eventing and Paralympic equestrian competitions will all take place in temporary structures around the park between July 28 and August 10, and on August 30.

Naomi Folkard, who became the youngest ever member of Team GB’s archery squad in 2002, aged 22, will carry the Olympic flame through Oxford today. She is now hungry for an Olympic medal following the team’s narrow miss in Beijing where they finished fourth.
