Spurs weigh up £12.5m Giovani bid

Giovani Dos Santos has set his sights on joining Tottenham from Barcelona in a deal which could be worth up to £12.5million.

The 19-year-old is in talks over a move with Spurs coach Juande Ramos wanting him in midfield alongside Luka Modric, a £16.5m signing from Dinamo Zagreb.

Giovani, who can also act as a winger or striker, was part of the Mexico team that won the 2005 Under-17 World Cup.

A source close to Giovani said: "Spurs are talking and though nothing has yet been agreed he would like to move to the club."

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace have suffered a setback in their bid to sign on-loan Benfica defender Jose Fonte. The Portuguese club's new manager, Quique Flores, is reluctant to let him go without assessing him first.
