Johanna Konta has two weeks in which to hold onto her spot in the £5.6million end-of-season WTA Finals.

The British No1 moved into the eighth and final qualifying spot after finishing runner-up to Agnieszka Radwanska at the China Open following a 6-4, 6-2 defeat.

It leaves Konta on 3,455 points, just 10 clear of closest challenger Dominika Cibulkova.

Carla Suarez Navarro looks out of contention in the Race for Singapore in 10th with 3,062 while Konta is just 28 points behind seventh-placed Madison Keys.

Johanna Konta fun facts

Konta will play the Hong Kong Open this week while Cibulkova is in action at another WTA tournament in Linz. Both events carry the same number of points — 280 for the win, 180 as runner-up, 110 as a semi-finalist and 60 for a place in the last eight.

But Cibulkova will play at the Kremlin Cup in Moscow the following week while the Hong Kong Open is Konta’s last scheduled tournament — although the world No9 could put in a late entry for an event that week if need be.

The WTA Finals begin in Singapore on October 23.
