Tickle released by Wigan

12 April 2012

Wigan have released goalkicking second row forward Danny Tickle, whose contract runs out at the end of the season.

The 23-year-old has been a regular since joining his home-town club from Halifax four years ago but does not figure in the club's four-year plan.

"We are trying to plan right through to 2010 and we will be announcing that structure over the next few weeks but sadly we are unable to include Danny Tickle as we work to remain within the salary cap," said chairman Maurice Lindsay.

"The salary cap figure for 2007 is only £1.6million so we will be forced to release some players."

Wigan must also decide the futures of a host of players currently on loan to other clubs. They include Danny Sculthorpe (Castleford), Sean Gleeson, Oliver Wilkes, Jordan James (all Widnes), Bryn Hargreaves and Paul Prescott (both Leigh).
