Tom Daley stays cool on world medal hopes

Don’t bank on it: Tom Daley does not think he is a favourite in Rome
13 April 2012

Tom Daley has played down his chances of a medal at the FINA World Championships in Rome.

The 15-year-old British diver competes in the men's 10-metre platform qualifying today, with the final to follow tomorrow.

He said: "If you look at my personal best that is good enough to win the World Championship but it wouldn't be the end of the world if I didn't get a medal in Rome.

"I am not going there expecting to get a medal, but I go there knowing that if I dive at my absolute best then I will get one."
