Tyson: Glad to be alive

Mike Tyson today admitted to fearing his failed challenge for the world heavyweight championship could have ended in tragedy at the hands of Lennox Lewis.

Tyson said: "I'm just happy that Lennox didn't kill me in there."

The controversial American was battered to defeat at the Pyramid Arena here yesterday morning.

And it was a humiliating result for a man who declared, prefight, his intent to 'crush Lewis's skull'.

Looking to the immediate future, Tyson added: "I may just fade into oblivion. I don't have nowhere to go, and nothing to do.

"I'll go and fly my pigeons in New York. I'm just going to chill out with my children, and fly my birds."

But the 35-year-old convicted rapist refused to rule out a return to the ring, even against Lewis.

He insisted: "If the price is right I'll fight a lion. I don't know if I can beat Lennox if he fights like that. But if possible we could do it again, and get another pay day."
