Villa's £8m may not be enough for Davies

14 April 2012

Aston Villa have bid £8million for West Brom's England Under 21 defender Curtis Davies, but the Championship club are determined to push the price up towards £10m.

One factor in driving up the price is that Albion have to hand over 30 per cent of any profit to Davies's former club Luton, whom they paid £3m two years ago.

Tottenham have also been long-term admirers of the England Under 21 star but the recent turmoil at the club had put the Midlands side in the driving seat to secure a deal.

With manager Tony Mowbray having already strengthened at centre half, Albion are no longer interested in a player-plus-cash deal for the 22-year-old.

Mowbray is also on the verge of signing Poland striker Bartosz Slusarski for £500,000 from Dyskobolia Grodzisk.

Slusarski, 25, who has two caps, trained with Albion earlier this week and is set to become their 12th signing of the summer.
