Wenger: Cocu's jibes will haunt him

Arsene Wenger today warned PSV Eindhoven that Arsenal will use the taunts of midfielder Phillip Cocu as added motivation tonight.

In an interview with Standard Sport yesterday, Cocu taunted Arsenal as a club "in serious crisis" with a "mistake-prone" defence.

The Dutchman also criticised the form of Thierry Henry.

Wenger believes that Henry, who has scored a 'mere' 13 times so far this season, with eight Premiership assists, and his team-mates will be

fired into action by Cocu's criticism. He said: "It will certainly help Thierry Henry and the rest of the team to get motivated. In our job, you can only give one response and that's out on the pitch. That's what we will try to do."

Sol Campbell will be restored to central defence as Arsenal look to get back to winning ways after three successive Champions League draws. The England central defender has proved his fitness after an achilles tendon injury and stomach bug. He will make an immediate return against PSV Eindhoven to bolster a back four that come under fire for failing to keep a clean sheet in 11 games with Pascal Cygan dropping to the bench.

With Dennis Bergkamp absent to ensure his readiness for Sunday's clash with Liverpool at Anfield, Wenger will draft Jose Antonio Reyes back into the starting line-up to support Henry.

When Arsenal played in Eindhoven two years ago, Henry was subjected to racial abuse but PSV manager Guus Hiddink reacted angrily to any suggestion that his club's supporters are racist.

"PSV is an open club and not a club for racist people," said Hiddink.

"I can speak speak for all the people here. There can always be one madman among 20,000 people. In our team we have two yellow Koreans, a black guy from Peru and a white guy with a bald head from Denmark. Everyone gets on well and there is a good atmosphere in the team and in the club."
