Wenger: Vieira won't join Juventus

13 April 2012

Arsene Wenger today dismissed further speculation linking Arsenal midfielder Patrick Vieira with a move abroad - this time to tomorrow's Champions League opponents Juventus.

Vieira's French international team-mate, Juventus striker David Trezeguet, claimed in an Italian newspaper today that the Arsenal man was keen on joining him in Turin.

"He (Vieira) is a great player and it's clear that it would please him to play at Juventus," said Trezeguet, who is the leading scorer in the Champions League with eight goals.

"I have spoken to Patrick and he asked me for information about Turin.

"Myself and Lilian (Thuram) have invited him to join us, speaking of all the nice opportunities here."

However, Arsenal manager Wenger said today: "I believe the most attractive championship in the world is England. That is why I am not worried about that."

Trezeguet added that Juventus faced competition for Vieira's services: "I believe that (Zinedine) Zidane has also spoken highly of Real Madrid. We'll see his decision but I believe Arsene Wenger will have an important role to play in his choice."
