Wheelers keep on rolling

Jim Hooley|Daily Mail13 April 2012

It was Peter Wheeler who wore the smile yesterday after watching son Joe and Oakham reach the Daily Mail Under 18 Cup quarter-finals for the first time with an 8-0 win over Dean Richards' old school, John Cleveland College.

'It was tight,' said Leicester's chief executive, 'but Oakham played the difficult conditions well, kept it among the forwards and deserved their win.'

Playing up the slope, Oakham kept it to 0-0 at half time before edging ahead with a Tom Gregory penalty, before wing Simon Johnson sealed victory with a try in the corner.

Oakham now face either RGS Newcastle or Lancaster RGS.
