Wildcats capture Lima

12 April 2012

Wakefield have signed Samoan powerhouse forward Danny Lima, the Warrington prop who finished the 2006 season on loan at Salford.

The 31-year-old Lima, who has spent the past three seasons with the Wolves after earlier spells with Sydney Roosters, Canberra and Manly, has joined the Wildcats on a one-year contract. He is the fourth front row recruit for Wakefield, who have lost two of their regular props from last season, with Michael Korkidas joining Salford and Darrell Griffin moving to Huddersfield.

Coach John Kear said: "Danny will add great power and experience to our front row, making it a hugely competitive area, with the likes of Sculthorpe, Watene, Bibey and Moore all vying for the starting positions."

He added: "I know Paul Broadbent is already relishing working with Danny to get the best out of what we know is one of the most powerful players in Super League."

Lima, who will join his new club for pre-season training on November 13, said: "I am really excited to be joining the Wildcats.

"They are an ambitious club with great players and a fantastic coaching set-up."
