Woods continues winning streak

12 April 2012

Tiger Woods extended his winning run on the PGA Tour to seven events with a two-stroke victory at the Buick Invitational.

Woods, who has won the Buick five times, shot a final-round seven-under-par 66 to finish on 15-under.

Charles Howell finished second on 13 under, while Brandt Snedeker was third one shot further back.

Bubba Watson, Mark Calcavecchia and Australia's Andrew Buckle finished four strokes behind.

Woods entered the final round two strokes behind rookies Buckle and Snedeker.

But having cut Buckle's lead to one shot after nine holes, Woods took the lead on the 13th hole when he tapped in for birdie.

He never relinquished the lead and expanded it to two when he made a birdie on the 17th.

It was the 55th career victory for Woods, who is now alone in second place on the list of players with the most consecutive PGA Tour victories.

The record is held by Byron Nelson with 11 in 1945.
