Wozniacki races through

Caroline Wozniacki

Caroline Wozniacki coasted into the second round of Wimbledon with a 6-2 6-1 victory over Arantxa Parra Santonja of Spain before a subdued Court One.

It took just 59 minutes for the world number one and top seed from Denmark to dismantle an opponent positioned 104 places lower in the world rankings.

The opening two games on a blustery court saw successive breaks of serve.

The opening set continued along its unpredictable path with Wozniacki breaking once more in the fourth game and then almost conceding her own serve in the fifth.

The number of unforced errors being made by Parra Santonja - only 48% of her first serves were in - made Wozniacki's life easier than it should have been.

But in the sixth it was the Dane's accurate crosscourt forehands and speed off the mark that did the initial damage.

Parra Santonja continued to struggle and was offering only token resistance to an opponent who was proving vastly superior.

The carnage continued into the second set and by the second game Wozniacki was in full flow, moving to the net to secure an early break.

Parra Santonja was powerless to prevent Wozniacki from opening Wimbledon with an easy victory, although she did show some fight in the sixth.

It was only delaying the inevitable, however, as the unforced errors returned in the seventh and Wozniacki served her way into the second round.
